One of the smallest models in Southeast Asian markets is the new 2021 Honda City. According to the latest spy photos, the forthcoming model is getting some exterior and interior improvements. Moreover, from what we heard, the new City might be released next month in India. However, as you probably know, an outbreak with Covid-19 is not settling out, and the release date might be moved for the end of this year.
However, many speculations are circulating and one of them is that there is a possibility for a new hybrid powertrain. Besides, the new City is going to be offered as a hatchback and sedan version as well. This is a great approach to make this model more competitive on the market.
2021 Honda City Design Updates and Changes
The exterior of 2021 Honda City wears heavy camo. However, as we can see, it looks refreshed and it comes with plenty of updates and changes over the predecessor. Also, some renderings appear and visually, the new generation looks more attractive than before. From what we hard, the manufacturer will offer sedan and hatchback variants at the same time. Moreover, expect both versions to look almost identical.
With that, we mean that both models will feature a sleek body and simular LED headlights, and grille. The rear-end will also be fresh with a new trapezoidal U-shaped taillights graphics.
First Spy Photos Inside
The upcoming 2021 Honda City hosts a remarkably comfortable cabin. Basically, there are no significant changes compared with the predecessor. This model retains the same excellent looking dashboard and more equipment this time. Firstly, the spied image reveals a new small infotainment touchscreen system and multi-functional steering wheel with mounted controls. This is most likely an entry-level model. Besides, we can see that the manufacturer added new vertical AC vents with silver surrounds, which gives sportier design.
The next-generation Honda City will also be available with many optional elements. Generally, we can expect top trim to feature an electric sunroof, two-tone dash with soft padding, bigger touchscreen, leather seat upholstery, and much more.
2021 Honda City Powertrain Possibilities
The refreshed 2021 Honda City model will most likely use the same powertrain as the predecessor. If rumors are right, the new generation will use a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that offers a maximum power of 120 horses with a peak torque of 173 Nm. On top of that, this powertrain will use a new CVT transmission.
The hybrid powertrain is the next possibility. From many speculations, the Hybrid model might use the same system as the Jazz e-HEV. The total output is 207 hp, which is not too bad.
