What’s New on the 2021 Honda Civic Type R?

The upcoming 2021 Honda Civic Type R looks very aggressive at first glance. Moreover, that`s nothing new, because Civic is one of the best-designed vehicles in the segment. Mainly this model looks very elegant and well-designed. We like the new Limited Edition Phoenix Yellow Metallic color that looks brutal. Unlike the original model, the Type R comes with more sophisticated lines.

Basically, the latest Honda Civic Type R adds an overall sporty look. The front dominates with high LED headlights and exclusive redesigned fog lights and black accents. Still, at the back, the same lines as on the original Civic are present. Besides, the new model also looks very attractive on the rear, with the spoiler as a highlight.

Inner Appearance

The layout inside the new Honda Civic Type R will be one of the strongest points. This model offers an extraordinarily comfortable cabin with a very generous legroom. Even the passenger on the back will have more than enough space. Like the original model, the new R comes with a standard 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space in the sedan version. However, the hatchback version provides 25.7 cubic feet.

Moreover, plenty of updates are happening inside. For example, the manufacturer will add an infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two USB ports, and Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming. Type R Limited Edition will come standard with Honda Sensing driver-assistance and safety suite.

Powertrain Specs

The upcoming 2021 Honda Civic Type R model will be equipped with the single-engine option. This powertrain provides the excellent output and is quite economical. The Type R model comes with a 306-hp turbo four-cylinder powertrain that uses a six-speed manual transmission. As we mentioned earlier, the latest Type R shares the same underpinnings with the regular model.

However, the Type R is a modified version that will get a stiffer suspension, adaptive dampers, and retuned steering. Moreover, thanks primarily to the use of lighter materials, this model is able to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds. As for fuel consumption, we are still waiting for more information.

Is the 2021 Honda Civic Type R Worth the Money?

The newest Honda Civic Type R is the boosted version of the original model. We like every detail of this car. Besides, the R version features more standard equipment compared to the regular model. If the rumors are true, the latest model will cost around $45,000.

Compared to the previous model, this is a huge jump. Basically, price is still affordable, compared with the models in the same class as Volkswagen Golf GTi and the Subaru WRX. Most likely, the new 2021 Honda Civic Type R will arrive on US soil this summer.
