Acura’s largest three-row SUV is getting some refreshments. The new 2022 Acura MDX looks more sporty, and according to the manufacturer, it will receive more standard equipment’s this time. If you didn’t know, the MDX has been around since 2001, and this luxurious 3-row SUV has been one of the selling models. Acura has sold more than 50,000 MDXs a year, which is an impressive number.
Unfortunately, there’s still no Acura MDX Hybrid model, as there was in 2020. The MDX is continuously offered by the potent 3.5-liter V6 that generates 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mates to a 10-speed automatic transmission and shift paddles behind the steering wheel.
2022 Acura MDX Looks More Bigger Than Before
The latest 2022 Acura MDX is a more attractive and bigger SUV compared to its predecessor. According to Acura, MDX is about 2.2 inches longer, with a wheelbase that has grown by 2.8 inches. Aside from size, the most noteworthy exterior details include revised Acura’s Diamond Pentagon grille, 4-element LED headlights, and 3-element LED fog lamps.
Viewed from the side, the latest MDX comes with 20-inch wheels, resulting in more sports characteristics. On top of that, the MDX’s back is highlighted by new LED taillights and a dual exhaust system. In sporty A-Spec form, this model gains a complete transformation. This SUV features an exclusive Apex Pearl Blue paint, black grille, A-Spec badges, and 20-inch Shark Gray wheels with a machined finish.
More Modern Cabin
Inside, the 2022 Acura MDX features the most modern cabin in the segment. Thanks to the added size, the forthcoming SUV is a bit roomier than its predecessor. However, the third row is still best for kids or small adults. The cargo capacity is excellent, and this midsize SUV offers 16.3 cubic feet of space behind the 3rd row, 39.1 behind the 2nd row, and 71.4 behind the first row.
The MDX highlight is definitively a new 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The new MDX also offers a standard tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, a 9-speaker audio system, and a few USB charging ports.
The standard safety of suite of MDX is one of the best. This SUV includes a forward-collision warning, road departure mitigation, automatic emergency braking, a lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitor, a rear cross-traffic monitor, and a driver attention monitor.

The engine is a transverse-mounted direct-injected, which has a 3-cylinder mode that saves fuel. According to Acura, the MDX records EPA city/highway fuel economy of 19/26 mpg (FWD), 19/25 mpg (AWD).
When Can We Expect the New 2022 Acura MDX?
The latest 2022 Acura MDX in base front-wheel-drive (FWD) form starts at $46,900. However, MDX A-Spec with standard AWD and a sportier appearance begins at $57,100.
Just for comparison, the Audi Q7 cost $54,950, while the Volvo XC90 starts at $49,000. Overall, the design of MDX has been improved and is more attractive than before. According to Acura, we should expect the redesigned MDX version to arrive at some point in the year.
