After the great sales of the Acura MDX Type S, there are plenty of rumors that the manufacturer is working on a more aggressive model. If you didn’t know, Acura recently resurrected the Type S badge. From information that’s available, the 2023 Acura MDX Type S will bring more eye-catchy styling and an extremely comfortable cabin.
Interestingly, the manufacturer already added Type S badge on its three models in its lineup including the NSX, the TLX sedan, and the MDX three-row SUV. Like the TLX Type S sedan, the Acura MDX Type S uses the same powertrain. In general, both models are powered by a potent 3.0-liter V6 engine that’s capable of producing 355 horsepower.
What Changes Can We Expect?
First of all, we don’t think that 2023 Acura MDX Type S will significantly differ from its predecessor. In general, we expect this model to keep the same body shape with some revisions on the front and rear end.
Based on rumors, we can count on a more aggressive grille, thinner headlights, and a hood that should finally get some openings for extra cooling the engine. The adjustable air suspension system will continue to be part of this SUV, as well as a big Brembo brakes attached to attractive 21-inch wheels.
More Advanced Techs
The cabin of the forthcoming 2023 Acura MDX Type S will be more luxurious for sure. As you probably know, this SUV as the standard variant offers three rows of seats and enough room for seven passengers.
The cabin is elegant, and unlike the standard one, the Type S comes with an interior that’s trimmed in Milano leather, and it adds a few additional details. With that, we mean it has a flat-bottomed Type S steering wheel, contrast stitching, and metal sport pedals. For 2023, we presume that Acura will add more larger infotainment system and likely some advanced technologies.
2023 Acura MDX Type S Engine Options
Like before, the forthcoming 2023 Acura MDX Type S will likely continue to use the same engine. As you probably know, this SUV deploys the same engine that you can find under the TLX Type S model as well. The engine consists of a 3.0-liter V6 powertrain producing around 355 horses with 354 pound-feet of torque.
If we compare Type S with the standard model, it’s an increase of exactly 65 horsepower and 87 pound-feet. The engine also sends power through a 10-speed automatic transmission using Acura’s SH-AWD system.
2023 Acura MDX Type S Price, Release Date
Considering that we don’t have much information regarding the list of changes, we cannot determine whether the price will remain the same. The current Acura MDX Type S starts at around $67,745, and it can reach almost $74,000 for the fully loaded model. An Advanced Package is available as well for an additional $5,350.
The package includes a head-up display, a 25-speaker sound system, massaging seats, and other interior niceties. At this moment we have only information that Acura MDX Type S should be more aggressive than the first generation, and it is likely to arrive sometime next year.
