2023 Acura MDX: Spy Shots, Type S Specs, Release Date and Price

The refreshed three-row SUV, the 2023 Acura MDX, will arrive next year, featuring a more premium look than its predecessor. According to the latest news, the manufacturer postponed the MDX variant and skipped the 2022 model year.

However, the new batch of spy shots is available, and we first noticed many similarities with the TLX sedan and RDX models. Beyond attractive exterior styling, this SUV will be powered by the same engines as the outgoing one. This sedan uses a 3.5-liter V-6 engine as standard, while Type S comes with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that produces 355-hp.

Actually, the upcoming model looks more sporty and is definitively one of the most stylish SUVs we ever saw. However, many of the Technology will remain the same, and MDX will keep the same 12.3-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital reconfigurable gauge display. As far as we know, Acura will make a longer list of standard equipment than in the outgoing model.

In general, Acura’s MDX is unique, and it features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, in-dash navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. An ELS Studio stereo system is available as well, but only choosing Technology trim. However, buyers that go for the A-Spec or Advanced models will get a 16-speaker ELS Studio 3D setup. On the safety side, the Acura MDX comes standardly with automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Like before, the 2023 Acura MDX will use the same two engine choices as the outgoing model. The base SUV is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, delivering 290-hp. It comes standard with 10-speed automatic transmission, and it uses a front-wheel-drive system. All-wheel-drive is only available as an option.

The next engine is powering the Type S model, consisting of a potent turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that can deliver an output of 355-hp. Unlike the base model, this one comes standard with Acura’s SH-AWD system, along with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

How Much Will Cost the New 2023 Acura MDX?

The 2023 Acura MDX will be significantly refreshed, and we can expect its debut to happen sometime in 2022. The new SUV will receive some upgrades, and it should deploy the same potent engine as its predecessor.

Unfortunately, its price is still a mystery, but it will likely be slightly higher. Some experts predict that it will cost under $50,000, which is in line with models such as the Genesis GV80, Lexus RX L, and Infiniti QX60.
