0

Another Honda SUV has been spied testing, and it seems that the manufacturer is going to refresh all of its fleet. Reportedly, the caught model is the upcoming 2023 Honda HR-V, that should be fully shown in the following year.

As its sibling Honda CR-V, the HR-V could carry a similar profile, according to new spy shots. However, it is smaller than the CR-V, but it sports the recognized Honda lines with a somehow different look of the tailgate, rear quarter, and it has more tinner taillights. From information that we got, the forthcoming HR-V will share its underpinnings with the Civic model. Actually, we can also expect some changes under the hood and probably some of the existing engines.

2023 Honda HR-V Exterior

Despite heavy camouflage, we have noticed some changes on the spied 2023 Honda HR-V. First of all, the HR-V looks more like the CR-V model. In general, the HR-V is slightly smaller and is more compact.
However, for 2023, the manufacturer will make it more attractive for sure, to keep up with other models in the class.

The forthcoming SUV shares its underpinning with the famous Civic model, and thanks top that, there’s a room for improvements. We noticed the Honda logo, underneath the rear wrap and on the lower left corner of the tailgate. Unlike the CR-V model, the HR-V has a smaller tailgate, rear quarter, and it has a more tinner taillights. We also expect some changes on the front fascia, which should include a more attractive grille and more eye-catchy headlights.

More Standard Technology

At this point, there is no available image in the cabin. As far as we know, the 2023 Honda HR-V will likely to get the same treatment as the bigger sibling CR-V. However, considering that HR-V is proportionally smaller than the CR-V, expect less legroom.

Anyway, on the technology side, the upcoming model will receive more standard technology than before. We heard that Honda would also add more quality materials and probably the niceties such as SiriusXM radio, onboard Wi-Fi, and in-dash navigation. Safety should also be much better and expect at least Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS, Brake Assist, LED Daytime Running Lights, and so on.

2023 Honda HR-V Powertrain Specs

At this point, there is no official information about the engine of the 2023 Honda HR-V. Many believe that it will use some of the existing engines, while on the other hand, many are hoping to see some electrification. From some gossip, the base model will use a 2.0-liter engine making 158 horsepower.

If that happens, the HR-V will get a moderate boost from the old car’s 1.8-liter unit. We also heard that a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine could be available as well, powering models such as the top-spec EX or EX-L trim, putting out closer to 180 horsepower.

When Can We Expect the 2023 Honda HR-V?

The new 2023 Honda HR-V has been spied testing yesterday, featuring some upgrades over the current generation. Generally speaking, the forthcoming crossover looks similar to the recently introduced CR-V, with a slightly smaller proportion.

As we mentioned, the new model is sporting a much different look from behind, and a slight tinner taillight. We expect this model to appear sometime next year, while sales should start soon after. Most likely, it will debut after the introduction of the new CR-V model. The price is not yet determined, but we presume that it will be toward the low to mid-$20,000s.
