2024 Honda City Is Getting Mid-Cycle Refresh

0

The current generation of Honda’s compact sedan and the hatchback has been in production for a while. It was introduced in 2019 and it looks like it’s time for updates. The latest reports suggest that the 2024 Honda City is about to receive a facelift. Allegedly, the test mule has been driving around and it brings a couple of camouflage areas, which show that the focus of this update will be on aesthetics.

Still, we believe that the upcoming refresh could bring novelties in other aspects as well, such as interior design, for example. We could see some enhancements regarding materials and interior aesthetics, while new tech features are also possible. On the other hand, we don’t believe that the next year’s model could bring bigger changes under the hood.

The 2024 Honda City should arrive sometime in the second half of the year.

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Honda City will probably get some updates. The test mule has already been spotted and it wears a decent portion of camouflage. Naturally, most of it is at the front end, which will be the area with the most changes, though other areas of the vehicle should get novelties as well. We count on revisions of parts like headlights, grille, bumpers and similar things, which should follow the brand’s latest design language and borrow some aesthetical solutions from the new Civic and Accord models. Besides changes at the front, we might see a couple of changes on the rear end, while we also expect to see typical mid-cycle updates, such as new wheels, color options etc.

On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of mechanics. The current generation rides on Honda’s contemporary, Global Small platform, which underpins the current generations of models like Fit and HR-V. The suspension setup is relatively simple, but the ride quality is actually pretty decent, whether it’s about comfort or handling.

Interior

This small car was designed mainly for Asian markets and one of its main characteristics is the affordable price. Therefore, there are some trade-offs, particularly inside the cabin. There, you can find a lot of cheap materials, even though the actual build quality is pretty good. For the next year, we might see some upgrades, especially in terms of finer materials. Moreover, we might see some new tech features as well. One of the possibilities is to see a new infotainment system with a bigger screen, while some sources even speculate about a digital instrument cluster.

The 2024 Honda City will continue in two familiar body styles, either as a 4-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback. The sedan is slightly longer and looks more elegant, but the hatchback is still a little bit more practical, mainly because of the superior cargo space and practicality.

2024 Honda City Engines

The next year’s model will get a lot of updates but we don’t expect to see bigger changes under the hood. We will see a familiar powertrain lineup, which includes all kinds of engines, which are offered in different markets. For example, models for the Indian market come with a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter inline-four engine, which puts out around 120 horsepower and only 145Nm of torque. On the other hand, versions for Thailand come with a more modern 1.0-liter turbo three-cylinder unit, which puts out around 120 horsepower and 173Nm of torque.

A diesel version is available in India and a few more markets, with a familiar 1.5-liter turbodiesel that puts out around 98 horsepower and 200Nm of torque. Finally, there is a hybrid version, based on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, with a max output of 109 horsepower and 250Nm of torque.

The diesel comes with a 6-speed manual only, while the 1.5-liter petrol unit is available either with manual or CVT. The rest of the lineup comes only with a CVT.

2024 Honda City Release Date

We expect that the 2024 Honda City will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year, though a more precise date is yet to be specified.
