We have some news about the upcoming 2022 Honda Crosstour. As you probably know, this model was discharged back in 2015, due to not so good sales. However, after a couple of years of break, we heard that the company would bring back to life this familiar model.
The upcoming Crosstour will be different than before. With that, we mean it will get a completely new design and even a better cabin. We heard a lot of speculations, and the newest one is that Crosstour will arrive this year as 2021YM. However, this rumor is not valid. The release date of this model is set for the third quarter of 2021.
2022 Honda Crosstour Will Be Based on the Legendary Accord
No doubt, 2022 Honda Crosstour will once again be heavily based on the legendary Accord. Although, we can expect a completely new design. Basically, this model will use the same language design as Concep D model. However, the latest Honda Crosstour won’t go far away from its roots.
The overall design will mostly remain the same, especially when it comes to the body style and overall dimensions. Additionally, we hear that the new Crosstour would get a completely new suspension setup. Basically, this definitively means higher ground clearance.
Interior Appearance
When it comes to interior design, the new 2022 Honda Crosstour will be modern and stylish. This model is about to feature the same cabin layout as the popular Accord sedan. Moreover, the list of standard features should be very similar as well.
Thanks primarily to its wagon body/crossover design, the new model will provide much more space than before. Also, various reports suggest a new dashboard, plenty of upscale materials, and better safety.
2022 Honda Crosstour Powertrain Specs
There is no much information regarding the powertrain of 2022 Honda Crosstour. However, from some gossip, this model will most likely be offered with three variants. Just like the Accord sedan, the entry-level models will probably use a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine that will deliver 192 horsepower. This model will come with the new CVT system. Furthermore, going up to higher trims, the buyers will get a bigger engine. This powertrain will consist of a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which produces 252 horses. Unlike the base one that uses CVT, this one is paired with a new 10-speed automatic gearbox.
Lastly, the third powertrain will use a similar system as the Accord hybrid. The hybrid model uses a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas engine paired with an electric motor and CVT automatic. Thanks to this system, the hybrid model develops 212 horsepower and an excellent 48-mpg combined rating.
Release Date and Cost
The comeback of 2022 Honda Crosstour will happen soon or later. Most likely, the Crosstour model will arrive in the market sometime in the third quarter of the next year. When it comes to the price, further details have been tightly guarded by Honda.
However, if the latest report is accurate, the base model will cost around $30,000. Rivals in the same segment are Subaru Outback and the upcoming Toyota Venza.
Pros and Cons
The comeback of 2022 Honda Crosstour is the most important event for the manufacturer. This model will continue to offer a very practical design, great ride quality, and a full load of safety features. However, it will be very hard to compete with legendary Outback.
I have a 2011 Honda Crosstour and would love to have a 2022 Gold Crosstour. It is beautiful..
Please be available the 3rd quarter of 2021
Definitely should be brought back. SUV’s are too big, and the HR-V is too small. Massive advertisement is necessary for success.
I can’t find any news of this on the Honda website. Are there any more rumors about this? I am hoping it didn’t get scrapped. The Outback is kind of dumpy looking.
