The rendering photos of the “upcoming” 2021 Honda CR-Z appears and it’s a minimal possibility that this model will be released. However, according to many gossips nowadays and from the latest renderings, the new model will be completely redesigned.
Besides a more sporty look, the upcoming model might also get a new engine. From multiple reports, this four-seater will be powered by three engine options and one of them will use Honda’s new hybrid technology.
2021 Honda CR-Z Rendering Analysis
The first rendering photo of the 2021 CR-Z model emerged online and this small car looks really cool. So, if this model gets back someday, we would like to see it with the same sporty lines as on renderings.
The design of CR-Z is attractive and many similarities will be shared with the famous NSX model. Both models will use almost identical front fascia and many cues besides that. On top of that, this model hosts a black spoiler behind and stylish wheels. According to the latest news, the next-generation will try to keep costs down, and because of that, it may borrow the same platform from the next-generation Civic. This platform will be around four inches chopped from the wheelbase.
Interior Rumors
At this time, there is no available image of the interior. However, from claims of many websites, the next-gen CR-Z model will bring many improvements inside. Also, like before, this small four-seater model will provide the same sportiness. On top of that, we can even expect more standard features.
The current base LX trim includes 160-watt, 6-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, 7-inch Display Audio, automatic climate control, push-button start, tilt-and-telescopic steering column, steering-wheel-mounted controls, reverse-linked rear wiper/washer, and a rearview camera.
In terms of government-mandated driving aids and safety items, this car comes with electric stability control, anti-lock brakes, airbags, and other occupant-protection features.
2021 Honda CR-Z Under the Hood
The upcoming Honda CR-Z model will be available with three engine options. In addition, the first engine that will be used is a detuned version of the Type R’s turbocharged 2.0-liter VTEC four-cylinder that can produce 280 horsepower.
However, the U.S. version will probably be using a 2.0-liter engine. Also, Honda is planning to revisit the hybrid for the Japanese domestic market. This model will use the 1.5-liter hybrid i-DCD powertrain generating 200 horsepower. On top of that, it will incorporate an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Price and Release Date
The new 2021 Honda CR-Z looks refreshed. However, many believe that this model will not happen in the near future. Meanwhile, some reports or to say “gossip” indicates that we will see the new concept at the next Detroit auto show. The last Japanese four-seater Honda CR-Z has been revealed in late 2016. Moreover, back then, this model has Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of just over $21,000.
Prons and Cons
From the latest rendering photos, the new 2021 Honda CR-Z looks more attractive than the predecessor. Basically, this model is not for everyone and it will mostly attract a younger population. If rumors are to be believed, the advantage of this model will definitely be vast engine options and its affordable prices. However, cons cannot be analyzed right now because this model is not yet official.
