In the class of compact utility machines, the Pioneer 700 stands out in many ways. While some competitors may feature more powerful engines, Honda puts focus on things that are way more important for the average user. As a result, the Pioneer offers impressive versatility, along with the company’s unmatchable reputation for durability and reliability.
There are so many things to like about the 2023 Honda Pioneer 700, which comes better than ever. Besides familiar strong points, such as versatile cargo beds or refined mechanics, the new model year also brings several interesting updates, which make the ride even more convenient. The updates are similar to those seen in the last year’s Pioneer 1000, which include a new instrument cluster, upgraded power steering system, larger glove box and a new 12V socket in the cargo bed.
With all these upgrades, Honda Pioneer has become even better and we have no doubt it will remain one of the class leaders.
2023 Honda Pioneer 700 Design and Features
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Honda Pioneer 700 gets some pretty interesting updates but at the same time, it offers pretty much the same overall layout, which we like a lot. First of all, this UTV offers pretty compact dimensions, which makes it not just highly maneuverable, but also able to fit a typical pickup truck cargo bed. The overall design remains unchanged from the last year, though the company added a new trim level, so there is a higher level of customization now.
Just like before, the 2023 Honda Pioneer 700 is offered in two variants, with two or four seats. On the other hand, there is a new trim level called Forest, which brings a lot of additional features.
Different trim levels offer different lists of standard equipment and also come in different color options. So, while the offer starts with the base Pioneer 700, the first upgrade comes in the form of Deluxe trim. This is now a mid-range option, which offers a solid number of upgrades when compared to the base version. Unlike the base version, this variant comes with power steering, as well as paddle shifters, which means that you can switch between auto and manual shift modes. Furthermore, this trim level is upgraded with aluminum wheels, bed lights, another 12V outlet, etc.
The new Forest trim comes in a special Honda Phantom Camo finish and brings several upgrades. Some of the most notable features are a Warn WRX45 winch, larger front bumpers, additional under-dash storage etc.
2023 Honda Pioneer 700 Engine Specs
On the other hand, the powertrain department continues in the same way. This variant of a Pioneer uses Honda’s well-known and proven 675cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine that puts out around 36 horsepower. The engine is rubber-mounted, which minimizes vibration and makes the ride even smoother. Despite the relatively modest power output, this liquid-cooled engine offers a pretty impressive performance. For example, this small UTV can tow 1.500 pounds, while the payload capacity goes all away up to 1,000 pounds.
The engine comes coupled with a heavy-duty automatic transmission with a torque converter. The transmission features a classic torque converter and offers exceptional durability. YOu may count on paddle shifters in higher trim levels. The Pioneer 700 is also an excellent off-roader, with three drivetrain modes – 2WD, 4WD and 4WD with differential lock. Speaking of off-roading, it’s good to know that this Pioneer features 10.7 inches in ground clearance.
Chassis and Suspension
Although pretty capable, the 2023 Honda Pioneer 700 comes in a pretty compact and lightweight package. Moreover, it also comes with a pretty refined suspension setup, which includes an independent double-wishbone front suspension, with 7.9 inches of travel. The rear end also features independent suspension, with adjustable preload shocks and 9 inches of ground clearance. As a result, the Pioneer offers a smooth ride without sacrificing payload and towing capacity.
One of the biggest novelties for this year is the new steering system. There is a new tilt steering wheel, which makes ins and outs a lot easier. Also, there is the new instrument cluster that doesn’t just look better, but also tilts with the wheel. Speaking of the new instrument cluster, the new LCD screen is two times bigger and offers much better transparency.
The 2023 Honda Pioneer 700 also offers pretty good stopping power, thanks to dual hydraulic discs on both ends. The front discs measure 200mm in diameter, while the rear discs are good for about 170mm.
2023 Honda Pioneer 700 Dimensions
As we already mentioned, the 2023 Honda Pioneer 700 is a pretty compact but also pretty capable machine. It features just 76.8 inches in wheelbase, which makes it quite maneuverable and easy to drive. For example, the turning circle is under 15 feet. The vehicle is nearly 115 inches long, 60 inches wide and 78 inches high, while the curb weight goes around 1430 pounds.
2023 Honda Pioneer 700 Price
The standard 2023 Honda Pioneer 700 starts at around 11.800 dollars, while the four-seat version is available at around $13.300.
