Honda’s luxury division is bringing back a familiar nameplate. Namely, the ZDX will be produced once again, this time with a notably different design. While the original model was one of the first cars in the market to feature a coupe SUV shape, the new model will be rather more conventional, with a classic SUV shape. What’s more important is that it will feature an all-electric setup, instead of the good-old 3.7-liter V6. The new crossover will also come in a high-performance variant, as the 2024 Acura ZDX Type S.
At this point, Acura still keeps most details a secret but we presume that this performance version will bring all kinds of upgrades. Of course, a new drivetrain with more horsepower than the standard version is one of the first things we expect to see. Furthermore, we might see some chassis and suspension upgrades, while styling enhancements are another thing that seems pretty certain.
The 2024 Acura ZDX Type S will arrive in 2024.
2024 Acura ZDX Type S Performance
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the drivetrain and performance. What we know so far is that the new 2024 Acura ZDX Type S will use GM’s Ultium battery technology, just like the standard version, though the officials are still quiet about the max output.
We presume that power figures will be similar to Cadillac Lyriq, which means that base models would come with a single rear electric motor that puts out around 340 horsepower. On the other hand, the Type S would feature a dual-motor and all-wheel-drive setup, where the max output would go over 500 horsepower.
When it comes to the battery, things are pretty clear. The ZDX will benefit from Honda’s partnership with GM and use the latest Ultium battery technology. It will provide many amazing things, starting from fast charging and great overall performance.
When it comes to capacity, we expect to see a 102-kWh battery pack, the same one as in the Lyriq, which should ensure over 300 miles of range.
2024 Acura ZDX Type S Design
Design-wise, the 2024 Acura ZDX Type S will feature a more conventional design compared to the original ZDX. While the original model was characterized by a daring coupe SUV look, the test mule of the new ZDX looks rather conventional. It features a typical SUV design approach and it’s also easy to notice that the overall shape is similar to the Honda Prologue.
The new crossover is characterized by a long and low hood, and we have no doubt that the Type S will come with a lot of exclusive details that accentuate its high-performance nature. Compared to the standard version, it should come with more aggressive bumpers, bigger wheels and similar upgrades.
Details about the interior design are still unavailable. While the Precision concept featured a super-futuristic cabin design, we presume that the 2024 Acura ZDX Type S will rather come with something more conservative. Still, we definitely expect to see a lot of tech features, including massive infotainment and instrument screens, while the overall interior design should come in a minimalistic manner.
The new 2024 Acura ZDX Type S could also feature a couple of exclusive interior details, while the seating configuration will certainly remain the same. As we are talking about a pretty large SUV, with nearly 122 inches in wheelbase, there is no doubt that both rows will be very generous with passenger space.
2024 Acura ZDX Type S Release Date and Price
According to the Japanese carmaker, the 2024 Acura ZDX Type S will arrive sometime in 2024, with an estimated starting price of around 75.000 dollars. On the other hand, base models should go around 60.000 dollars.
