Acura is getting ready for an electric future by bringing back some of the popular models from the past. According to the latest news, the 2024 Acura ZDX will be one of them. Unlike the first-generation ZDX, which came out in 2010 and had a fastback design that was ahead of its time in many ways, the new model is expected to have a more traditional two-box SUV shape.
As far as we know, the forthcoming ZDX will use GM’s latest Ultium battery. This gives us a hint about what will power the ZDX. We expect a rear-mounted electric motor with 340 horsepower in the standard version, and the possibility that an all-wheel drive version with 500 horsepower and maybe a Type S badge will be offered as an option.
Acura’s first fully electric car, the 2024 ZDX, will be attractive and modern. Based on what we know thus far, the new vehicle will take many elements from the Precision EV Concept’s design language. It’s also likely to make use of the very flexible Ultium battery-powered worldwide EV platform.
The new SUV’s styling should be futuristic, and it will likely share the Precision EV Concept’s LED light bar grille. Reports say that the same headlamp will also be put on this SUV, giving it an even more unique look.
2024 Acura ZDX Interior
Unlike the futuristic cabin of the Precision EV Concept, the 2024 Acura ZDX is expected to have a more conventional design inside. We anticipate a two-row seating configuration with a steering wheel in the yoke design. In addition, the ZDX will have high-end materials, including maybe some eco-friendly textiles, to further the SUVs’ green appeal.
The transparent display displays on the concept car are lovely and futuristic. However, we’re expecting the final ZDX to feature a more conventional infotainment screen and digital gauge display. We have no idea whether the ZDX will use a touchpad-controlled version of Acura’s current software interface or GM’s new Google-based system. In any case, it seems likely that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be supported wirelessly.
2024 Acura ZDX Motor Specs
It is likely that there will be 340-500 horsepower engine options for both rear- and all-wheel-drive configurations. A ZDX Type S is also under development, according to Acura’s announcements. We may both be driving the all-wheel-drive, higher-powered version of that car.
GM’s Ultium battery, with the same 102 kWh pack size as in the Cadillac Lyriq, will be utilized. Considering that Cadillac said their battery could bring them up to the 312 range, the Acura should be able to achieve a similar number.
2024 Acura ZDX Price, Release Date
For the 2024 model year, Acura will introduce the ZDX, its first fully electric sport utility vehicle. If the ZDX follows the same pattern as Acura’s gas-powered cars, buyers will be able to choose from a number of models that provide progressively more features and horsepower.
If history is any indication, the Type S will be the flagship version. And thus, we eagerly anticipate seeing what an electric version of Acura’s legendary performance package can do. Prices are estimated to begin at $60,000 for the basic model and $75,000 for the Type S.
