The all-new 2022 Acura NSX Type R is announced and it will debut next year. If you didn’t know, this model is a boosted version of the popular sports car Acura NSX. According to the latest news, the upcoming Type R will bring plenty of improvements over the standard model. Basically, everything will be upscale.
Besides great and more aggressive styling, the new model will be powered by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 that is paired to three electric engines. Thanks to that, Acura NSX Type R will boost 650 horsepower. As you may probably know, the current NSX model provides 573 horses.
2022 Acura NSX Type R Will Get a Stiffer Suspension
In terms of design, the new 2022 Acura NSX Type R will be more aggressive than the regular model. Generally, everything about this sports car will be excellent. For a start, the forthcoming NSX Type R will get a stiffer suspension and larger ceramic carbon brakes.
Besides, bodywork gets a minor redesign. Moreover, we can expect better aerodynamics and a more attractive design. The body of the new Acura NSX Type R will be boosted and the front splitter and rear wing will be adapted from the NSX-GT model.

Like the standard NSX, the Type R will feature navigation, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, heated seats, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth phone/streaming audio, keyless smart-entry/smart-start and more.
2022 Acura NSX Type R Under the Hood
If the latest reports are accurate, the upcoming 2022 Acura NSX Type R will be powered by a potent engine. This model will use twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 powertrain that will be tinker with the three electric motors. Thanks to this combination, this unit will provide an output of no less than 650 horsepower. If that number is accurate, the Type R model will get an additional 77 hp over the standard NSX. We know for sure because this is a hybrid arrangement, that Type R will definitively use a nine-speed sequential gearbox.
Another mystery yet to be solved is what system will use this model. From many speculations, the manufacturer might use the proven SH-AWD system that can also be found on the regular model.
Release Date and Price
The release date of Acura NSX Type R is set for the next year. Probably, this model will be introduced on some of the upcoming events. Either way, it’s too early to discuss the price of this high-performance model. Looking at regular NSX that starts at 157k, we can roughly estimate that Type R will cost no less than 200k.
