According to the latest gossip, the Japanese automaker may return the famous Honda Crosstour model in the near future. The new model will be called 2022 Honda Crosstour and it may look similar to the concept D that has introduced five years ago in China. However, many fans considered that Honda had given up on this project, but we believe that this model would happen someday.
As you may know, the Honda Crosstour is the crossover that, due to lack of sales, is being dropped from the market in 2015. Until then, many rumors are circulating that the new model will be based on the Concept D.
2022 Honda Crosstour Design Will Be Based on the Concept D Model
The rumored 2022 Honda Crosstour crossover is the model that will borrow plenty of styling cues from the Concept D. This excellent looking crossover took much attention five years ago thanks to its sporty appearance. The front looks very attractive and we can see the famous Honda’s design language. Honda is already offering some models with the same grille and similar headlights.
The body features sharp angles, vents, massively flared wheel arches, and side skirts. On top of that, the recognized front fascia wears a slat-grille that gives it a military stance. Besides that, we like the LED headlights shape that is running around almost the entire fascia, incorporating both the grille.
Cabin Specs
Honda didn’t release any photos from the inside of the Concept D. However, officials say back then that the final version will feature a “spacious cabin,” and more techs inside than the CR-V. However, many rumors indicate that the CR-V and the upcoming 2022 Honda Crosstour crossover will share many styling cues together. That includes the same dash design and also a long list of standard features. As you may know, the standard CR-V is equipped with the 7-inch touchscreen unit, dual-zone climate control, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Like concept D, the new Crosstour may use the same layout. There will be two rows of seats and enough room for five passengers. Cargo area is almost 26.0 cubic feet, while folding a second bench it opens 51.5 cubic feet of space.
2022 Honda Crosstour Engine Speculations
The latest report claims that the 2022 Honda Crosstour will be available with two engine options. The first engine that powers the base Honda Crosstour will be a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that will produce 192 HP and 162 lb-ft of torque. The next one is optional 3.5-liter V6 that is able to deliver 280 horsepower and 252 lb-ft of torque.
Both units will be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Like before, we can expect all-wheel-drive to be part of the optional equipment. Fuel economy numbers are not yet available, but we assume that it will be much more improved if we compare it with the last model.
Release Date and Price
There are still many speculations about the comeback of the 2022 Honda Crosstour. Many rumors indicate that this model may arrive next year as the 2022 model. The pricing of this SUV is the biggest mystery. However, from some expert’s view, the Crosstour won’t cost more than $30,000 for the base model.
The Crosstour should be brought back. The HR-V is too small, and the CR-V looks like other suv”s (Escape, Forester, RDX, etc). The size and AWD is just right. If it comes out again, I will definitely buy one.
