The new 2023 Honda Civic will be redesigned this year, and we’re also expecting the high-performance Type R model to debut at some time. This car has a great reputation thanks to its affordability, efficiency and durability. From information that’s available, the new 11th-generation Civic will get a thorough makeover inside and out.
Some spy photos are available, and the upcoming model is looking more cleaner and more refined compared to the outgoing model. Besides, there’s little news at this moment about its engines, but you can definitively expect the same base four-cylinder engine as well as the turbocharged four-cylinder optionally. Power for the Type R model will probably come from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine turbocharged, delivering great performance and output.
2023 Honda Civic First Look
Up front, both the 2023 Honda Civic and Type R models will receive some significant changes. As far as we can see from the first spy shots, both models come with a bigger grille and redesigned LED headlights. We noticed that the Type R model has a larger intake, and that’s expected because this model needs more cooling air.
Besides, the Type R model also wears side skirts on both sides, and its rear end has a big rear wing plus a unique exhaust outlet. Unlike the original model, the Type R will introduce more stylish wheels and a lower ride height.
More Modern Cabin
On the inside, the forthcoming 2023 Honda Civic will dominate thanks to the use of more quality materials and better technology. The Civic sedan, according to Honda, offers a trunk volume of 14 cubic feet, while the hatchback model has 24.5 cu ft behind its rear seat. However, both models should offer an excellent outward view at the new instrument panel, with a digital tachometer and an analog speedometer.
The Civic Touring as the pinnacle on the offer includes a large 10.2-inch LCD screen that’s customizable, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Other models can be got with a standard 7-inch touchscreen or an optional 9-inch screen. As for the Type R model, it will definitively offer some of the new parts. We’re expecting this version to come with more sporty seats, an aluminum (or aluminum-look) shift knob, and red stitching.
2023 Honda Civic Engine Performance
The new 2023 Honda Civic is the car that will be available with a few engine options. As before, we’re expecting it to use the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in the LX and Sport trims. This engine produces 158 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 138 lb.-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm.
Beside this engine, Honda also offers a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 that puts out 180 horsepower. The same engine under the hood of the Si model produces 200 horsepower. The last engine is powering the Type R model using the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. This engine develops over 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel-drive is standard, and it doesn’t sound that Honda is planning to offer an all-wheel drive setup.
2023 Honda Civic Release Date, Price
Honda will unveil the next-generation of the 2023 Civic sometime this year. So, we can expect sales to begin during the 2023 model year.
As we mentioned, both Honda Civic and Type R prototypes are recently caught testing, featuring refreshed design. Unfortunately, there are no official details about its pricing, but we presume some small increase for the base model.
