By The current generation of Honda’s excellent compact hatchback was introduced in 2022 and after the comeback of the Type R with the 2023 model, it is pretty much for sure that the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback will come without more important changes. We expect to see a typical carryover model, with a familiar design and features, though minor tweaks are always possible, especially in terms of new features, color options etc.
You may count on a super-practical Civic, with a generous cargo area and plenty of strong points, starting from engaging handling, a smooth ride, a well-built interior and a long list of standard equipment. The hatchback is available with three engine options, including the high-performance Type R, while there is also a choice between CVT and manual gearbox in most trim levels.
Since there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Design
As we’ve just mentioned, this will be the third production year of the current generation and therefore, it’s hard to believe that bigger changes could happen. Instead, we believe that the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback will carry on in the same way, with the same look that now looks more elegant and more mature. Of course, minor yearly updates are always possible, especially when it comes to things like new color options.
In terms of mechanics, the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback will continue with its excellent setup, which offers a pretty engaging ride, in a combination with direct handling but a surprisingly high level of comfort. Of course, there is also the Type R, which doesn’t come with styling upgrades only, but also with numerous mechanical enhancements, such as upgraded performance suspension, adaptive dampers, Brembo brakes, limited-slip differential etc.
Interior
When it comes to the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback interior, things will also continue in the same way. There is the new dashboard design, which looks very elegant, thanks to the numerous classic aesthetical solutions. At the same time, the cabin looks quite premium, thanks to the use of nice materials and various tech features. Practically, the only complaint about this interior goes to the sound insulation, which could have been done better for sure.
On the other hand, the Civic benefits from its long wheelbase and offers plenty of legroom in both rows. Also, the amount of headroom in the second row is more generous compared to the sedan. Moreover, the cargo area is also significantly larger, with 25.5 cubic feet compared to the sedan’s 15 cubes.
Features
Once again, we don’t expect to see bigger surprises. The trim level organization will remain the same, though we might see some new standard features in each version. In any case, base models should come standard with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, an eight-speaker stereo, an analog gauge cluster, automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start and remote start
Among upgrades, there should be goodies like a 9-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 12-speaker stereo, additional USB ports, a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control and a moonroof.
When it comes to safety features, base models should come with goodies like a rearview camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beams, rear-seat alert etc. Also, there are upgrades like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors etc.
2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Engines
The 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback will continue with three familiar engine options on offer. Base models will carry on with the good-old 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four, which puts out around 158 horsepower. While this engine offers decent driving dynamics, the optional 1.5-liter turbo-four is certainly a better choice, with 180 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Finally, the Type R comes with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, with 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Also, there is a choice between CVT and a 6-speed manual transmission.
The base engine returns up to 30 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, while the 1.5-liter turbo-four is good for up to 37 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway. Those are both very good ratings for the segment.
2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 26.500 dollars. Key competitors are models like Mazda 3 Hatchback, Toyota Corolla Hatchback, VW Golf etc.
